DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - Injection Molding
Note: The location listed in this ad may not reflect the true, exact location of this job. This person will manage 3 plants, all located within a couple hours of each other.
Responsibilities for Director of Operations -
  • The Director of Operations will assume operational responsibility for all operations across three manufacturing plants.  The primary process of these plants is Injection Molding but you will also oversee moderate assembly, automation, value-add, and packaging functions.  We are looking for a TAKE CHARGE, person who delegates responsibilities but who holds their team accountable for achieving measurable objectives, ensuring that safety, productivity, staffing, utilization, scrap are all at appropriate levels.  This is not a turnaround situation – in fact this role is due to continued and sustained growth. For the right person, this should lead to substantial opportunities for advancement.
  • In conjunction with company executives and key managers, the Director of Operations will establish budgets and strategic plans to accomplish corporate objectives for growth and profitability.
  • The Director of Operations will establish metrics for key areas of measurement and hold teams accountable to achieve or exceed these goals.
  • Drive improvement as a way of life in the operations, including constantly improving metrics in key areas.
  • Manage the OPERATIONS P&L, driving all operations to meet or exceed budgets and strategic plans.
Qualifications for Director of Operations
  • A BS degree is preferred, but will consider all candidates with extremely strong manufacturing leadership experience with Injection Molding Manufacturing. Ideal industries could include Automotive, Medical Devices, Consumer Goods – anywhere a good manager would cultivate a background in excellence, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, etc.
  • 10 years of experience as Plant Manager or Operations Manager in a high-volume manufacturing operation. You must like to spend your time on the plant floor. Multi-Site Management experience helpful but not required.
  • Subject Matter Expert level of experience and knowledge in the field of Injection Molding. You’ve got to know how to run a Molding plant, how to deliver high quality parts safely and at high volumes. You don’t need to be a Process Engineer, but you have to know how to manage Process Engineers (and everyone else on the floor).
  • You MUST be a hard charging, get-things-done now sort of manager.  We are not interested in people who have to have a meeting on every single topic.
  • Strong, metric-driven personality and methodology, and must drive the business for continual improvement of key metrics.
  • Strong financial knowledge with strong budgeting skills, Proven P&L experience, and strong Strategic Planning experience.
