Company: This company is a technological leader in high quality, tight tolerance Medical Molding. This is a well-respected, debt-free, custom manufacturer of polymer molded products that continues to build on a reputation earned through decades of quality work. Their products and capabilities are unique and primarily are found in Medical Devices and Components. They are looking for a Process Engineer to lead key process improvement and new product launch activities for this operation.

DESIRED BACKGROUND: Engineering experience in Injection Molding, Liquid Injection Molding, Liquid Silicone Rubber Molding, or similar experience working with Elastomers in a FDA regulated environment

Process Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Ensure successfully introduction of new injection molded products and associated tooling into manufacturing, including creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • The Process Engineer will optimize the yield and minimize scrap for injection molding, fixturing, and assembly process from design to product launch; and will be a critical part of the design of product, plant floor, fixtures, and assembly area layout.
  • The Process Engineer will manage projects to refine SOP’s for existing products and optimize processing parameters.
  • The Process Engineer will ensure (hands-on) to optimize materials processing conditions, fixtures, and tooling to improve output, reduce scrap, and improve quality.
  • The Process Engineer will work in concert with production and maintenance personnel to deliver new process standards and/or safety improvements with new and/or existing equipment and machinery.
  • The Process Engineer coordinates continuous improvement and production process refinement efforts.
  • The Process Engineer generates BOMs & BORs (Bill of Materials & Bill of Resources) for all SKUs developed.
  • The Process Engineer coordinates all applicable product testing verification and ongoing validation to meet product specifications as well as comply with applicable local and governmental regulations and any specific agency or industry regulations/requirements..
Process Engineer Qualifications:
  • BSME, BS Plastics Engineering, or Similar Technical Degree preferred. AS or Appropriate years of experience may be accepted.
  • The Process Engineer should have 4 years of Process Engineering with a manufacturer of Injection Molded products, ideally in a FDA regulated industry covered by ISO 13485.
  • The process engineer must have strong injection molding processing and troubleshooting experience, with experience setting up new tools for processing, running “first shots” in concert with the plant team, and working through the steps needed to go from first shot and into production.
  • Significant experience creating SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), SWI’s (Standard Work Instructions), BOM’s (Bill of Material) and experience with tools such as lean manufacturing, quality control, 6 Sigma.
  • Experience working through formal approval processes such as a Pre Production Approval Process that includes capability studies, standard instructions, and quality concerns.
  • Strong Project Management skills and ability to work independently managing multiple projects.
